Meet Jeanine Johnson
LMFT
Professional Summary
With a background spanning over three decades in education, including thirty-eight years teaching in public schools and serving as a school counselor, I bring valuable background and
perspective to therapeutic practice. I have been married for over thirty years and am a proud parent of six children and several grandchildren. I understand the intricacies of family dynamics and the importance of nurturing relationships, including that of blended families and problems related to divorced individuals. My personal experience with trauma and loss enrich my professional approach, fostering empathy and understanding in my work with clients.
Areas of Expertise
Because of my background of working with adolescents and their families, this is a focus in my therapeutic practice. Loss and grief is also a focus, including the myriad of types of loss and the variety of ways that persons express their grief. In addition, I have led groups of individuals working to heal from addiction to pornography.
Therapeutic Approach
My educational background includes training in the Gestalt modality, as well as solution-focused brief therapy and emotionally focused therapy.
Professional Background
I taught in a public-school setting for nearly thirty-nine years, which includes having added my degree in School Counseling in 1993. Along with earning my degree in Marriage and Family
Therapy, I have also earned certification in trauma-based therapy.
Why Work with Me?
Clients from all cultures and walks of life can feel reassured that I am a compassionate professional who works hard to stay abreast of new therapeutic trends, and studies to learn the best treatment methods for individual clients. As a trauma informed therapist, I specialize in treating grief and loss, as well as in addressing the complex aftermath of narcissistic relationships and other forms of interpersonal conflict. Through compassionate guidance and evidence-based techniques, I work with individuals and families to heal from emotional wounds and cultivate healthier, more fulfilling connections.
